ABOUT ME
​
Geena Kam is a multi-faceted classical pianist, educator, and art entrepreneur. As a soloist, chamber musician, and collaborator, Geena strives to make classical music accessible to all audiences and to evoke emotionally captivating experiences. She is the founder and artistic director of the Summer Concert Series at Roti Roti Art Center of Buchanan, MI, and the artistic director of the Michiana Chapter of Music for Food.

Geena is also a sought-after teacher who is deeply passionate about helping students discover their musical potential and find their unique voices as young musicians. Her students have won national and international competitions including Carmel Klavier International Piano Competition, Pelican International Music Competition, Sherer International Competition, Fischoff Chamber Music Competition Geoffroy Prize, South Bend Youth Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition, Gene Marcus Piano Competition, Stickley Piano Competition and several others.
A passionate educator, Geena has presented workshops and masterclasses for area music teachers and students and created venues for young pianists. Recent presentations includes "Art of Pedaling" for the Keyboard Music Festival at Andrews University and "Impacting Our Community Through Music" for the South Bend Area Music Teachers Association (SBAMTA). She has created events such as the Sonata & Sonatina Festival and Baroque Festival sponsored by SBAMTA, and the Chopin Piano Competition sponsored by South Bend Chopin Fine Arts Club.

Geena is a member of the piano faculty at Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN, and the director of the Chamber Music Summer Intensive of the Fischoff National Chamber Music Association. She also serves as the chamber music coach for the Fischoff Chamber Music Academy and the piano coach for the South Bend Youth Symphony Orchestra.

She holds degrees from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (B.A in piano performance), Eastern Michigan University (M.A in piano performance), and the University of Iowa (D.M.A in piano performance and pedagogy), as well as has attended the Institute of for European Studies (IES) in Vienna, Heifetz International Music Institute, Chautauqua Institution, and Adamant Music School. Her principal teachers were Réne Lecuona, William Heiles, Joel Schoenhals. She studied pedagogy under Alan Huckleberry, Reid Alexander and Christos Tsitsaros.
